State Police Conduct Underage Drinking Initiative

(Watertown, NY - July 02, 2010)On July 2 New York State Police, Watertown, were assigned to conduct checks at local retail establishments to ensure compliance with existing laws that prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. These checks were completed using an operative, who was less than 21, that when asked, would provide identification that clearly identified this operative as a person that could not purchase alcoholic beverages.

As a result of these checks, the following businesses were checked, and were found to be in compliance, failing to sell alcoholic beverages to the less than 21 year old operative:

The purpose of these details is to reduce and heighten the public’s awareness of the dangers associated with young adults obtaining alcohol, and the related dangers associated with highway safety.

The New York State Police were assisted with this investigation by the Fort Drum Federal Police Department, and Military Police, as well as support from the Jefferson County District Attorney.

Bad Check Arrest in the Town of Alexandria

(Alexandria Bay, NY) The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested LORRAINE F. RUBADUE, age 82, for one count of Issuing a Bad Check.

On 11/16/09, Ms. RUBADUE uttered a check to the CROSSROAD’s GROCERY STORE in Redwood, NY for $21.00 on an account with insufficient funds.

Ms. RUBADUE was issued a criminal summons returnable to the Town of Alexandria Court on 05/25/10.

Criminal Contempt arrest in LaFargeville

(LeFargeville, NY – April 22, 2010) The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested WADE A. SANFORD, age 35, 22020 Hax Road, LaFargeville for Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree.

On 04/21/10, Mr. SANFORD sent his estranged wife – KIMBERLEY L. SANFORD – a text message. The text message violated an Order of Protection that was issued by Jefferson County Family Court.

Mr. SANFORD was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Watertown court on 04/29/10 and released.

UPDATE: Man Dead After Shooting

(Alexandria Bay, NY – April 12, 2010) - The shooting occurred at the residence owned and occupied by Jesse S. Bartlett, age 33. The investigation suggests that there was an altercation between Bartlett and the victim, Keith Brabant, age 33, at Bartlett’s home 41026 County Route 2, Larfargeville on the morning hours of April 11, 2010. The altercation resulted in the shooting death of Keith Brabant.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation continues. The New York State Police were assisted on scene by members of the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office. This matter is pending presentment to a Jefferson County Grand Jury.

State Police Investigate Shooting in Alexandria Bay

(Alexandria Bay, NY - April 11, 2010) - At approximately 9:00 am this morning, State Police in Alexandria Bay responded to a reported shooting at 41026 County Route 2, Lafargeville,NY in Jefferson County.

Troopers located a male deceased at the residence. At this time, it is unknown if any criminal liability exists. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office. All persons involved are currently cooperating with the investigation.

No further information is available at this time.

Marihuana arrest in the Town of Theresa

The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested DARLENE F. BLIGHTON, age 49, Honeoye Falls, NY for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. On 04/06/10, at approximately 3:40 PM, Ms. Blighton was stopped on State Route 37 in the Town of Theresa for operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration. An odor of marihuana was noted, and during the subsequent investigation 2.5 grams of marihuana and two pipes with marihuana residue were located in the vehicle.

Ms. Blighton was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Theresa court on 04/13/10 and released.

NYSP were assisted at the scene by US Border Patrol.

Domestic Dispute results in Harassment arrest

(Alexandria Bay, NY – March 27, 2010) The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested LEON B. CARLISLE, age 30, 37393 Bald Rock Road, Clayton, NY for Harassment in the Second Degree.

On 03/23/10, Carlisle pushed his wife, CASEY L. CARLISLE, age 24, into a wall, causing her to strike her head.

On 03/26/10 he was served a criminal summons directing him to appear 03/30/10 before the Town of Clayton Court.

DWI arrest in the Town of Alexandria

(Alexandria Bay, NY) The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested HOWARD L. BAIN, age 51, 46193 Log Hill Road, Alexandria Bay, NY for Driving While Intoxicated.

On 03/11/10, at approximately 2:32 AM, BAIN was stopped on the Number 6 Road in the Town of Alexandria for operating a vehicle with a head light out. The subsequent investigation revealed Mr. BAIN was intoxicated.

He was arrested and found to have a BAC of 0.14 %. He was issued tickets for Driving While Intoxicated and a head light violation and released to reappear in the Town of Alexandria court on 03/23/10.

Criminal Mischief Arrest in the Town of Clayton

(Alexandria Bay, NY – March 11, 2010) The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested James M. Mosher, age 37, of Clayton, NY for Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree.

On 03/11/10, at approximately 10 PM, Mosher was observed throwing eggs at a camper trailer owned by Jay D. Bearup of Clayton.

Mosher was arrested and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Clayton court on 03/16/10.

DWI Arrest in the Village of Clayton

(Clayton, NY) The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested MICHAEL A. COOK, age 21, 719 James Street, Clayton, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.

On 02/13/10, at approximately 2:22 AM, he was stopped on Theresa Street in the Village of Clayton, after a mobile computer registration check showed the vehicle he was operating had a suspended registration for having no insurance. The subsequent investigation revealed he was also intoxicated. BAC – 0.24%.

He was issued tickets returnable to the Village of Clayton Court on 02/23/10 and released.
