State Police Conduct Underage Drinking Initiative

(Watertown, NY - July 02, 2010)On July 2 New York State Police, Watertown, were assigned to conduct checks at local retail establishments to ensure compliance with existing laws that prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. These checks were completed using an operative, who was less than 21, that when asked, would provide identification that clearly identified this operative as a person that could not purchase alcoholic beverages.

As a result of these checks, the following businesses were checked, and were found to be in compliance, failing to sell alcoholic beverages to the less than 21 year old operative:

The purpose of these details is to reduce and heighten the public’s awareness of the dangers associated with young adults obtaining alcohol, and the related dangers associated with highway safety.

The New York State Police were assisted with this investigation by the Fort Drum Federal Police Department, and Military Police, as well as support from the Jefferson County District Attorney.

State Police arrest Dexter man on Child Pornography charges

(Watertown, NY - June 25, 2010) The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Watertown concluded a six month investigation with the arrest of 32-year-old Joseph M. Bowman of 600 William St., Apartment E2 Dexter, NY.

Bowman was arrested on five felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and five felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

The investigation at this point revealed that Bowman possessed and subsequently shared videos via the internet of males under the age of 10 years old engaged in sexual acts with adult males.

Bowman was remanded to the Jefferson County jail in lieu of $40,000 cash bail.

This investigation was a joint investigation conducted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children, and the Troop D Computer Crimes Unit.

Trooper David Lane was fatally injured on November 4th in a two-vehicle collision on State Route 32 in the Town of Catskill.

A 1997 graduate of General Brown High School in Dexter, NY, he also served in the United States Army, “C” company, 307th Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne, where he saw active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Trooper Lane was a dedicated four-year veteran of the New York State Police. He is survived by his parents Stephen and Cheryl lane of Dexter, NY, his brother Stephen Lane Jr. of Webster, NY and fiancée Kelly Miller of Catskill, NY.

State Police arrest Dexter man for Rape

(Watertown, NY - August 25, 2009) The State Police in Watertown arrested Gregg A. Pietramala (DOB 01-29-81) 17102 CR-53 Dexter, NY 13634 on 1 count of Rape 2nd a Class D Felony and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child a Class A Misdemeanor.

Pietramala is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 14 year old female on 08-15-09 in the T/Brownville Jefferson County. Pietramala was arraigned before T/Brownville T/J Richard Parker and remanded to the Jefferson County PSB in lieu of $5000 bail pending Grand Jury action.
