Jefferson County Residents Named to HCCC Honors List

(Herkimer, NY) One hundred eighty-eight students have been named to the President’s List at Herkimer County Community College for the fall 2009 semester, and 395 students have been named to the Dean’s List. The distinction recognizes outstanding academic achievement.

The President’s List recognizes students who have earned a minimum 3.8 average on a 4.0 scale for the past semester (President’s List students are noted with an asterisk*).

The Dean’s List recognizes students with an average from 3.25 to 3.8.

Arrest for Burglary in Town of Leray

(Watertown, NY – Nov. 16, 2009) The New York State Police in Watertown arrested Jeremiah C. Collins (10/01/82) 43812 Stine Rd, Redwood, NY at about 4:45 AM on 11/16/09.

Collins is alleged to have entered the residence of Ernesto Ortega on SR-3 in the Town of Leray and stole a phone. Collins further entered Ortega’s truck stealing a back pack containing a lap top computer and several DVD’s.

Collins was located directly behind the Ortega residence by responding Troopers. Collins was also found to have been in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to SP Watertown.

Collins intentionally damaged property within the Watertown State Police Station. He was charged with Burglary 2nd degree, Possession of Burglary tools, Petit Larceny, Criminal mischief 4th degree, and unlawful possession of marihuana.

Collins was arraigned before Town of Pamelia Justice Baker and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety building in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Redwood Woman Arrested for Threatening Phone Calls

(Lowville, NY - October 15, 2009) - State Police in Lowville arrested 50 year-old,

Robin W. Pierce from 25436 NYS Rt 26 Redwood, NY for 1 count Aggravated Harassment 2nd – Class “A” Misdemeanor.

Pierce did make a phone call to another subject on August 7, 2009 in the Town of New Bremen which was threatening and alarming to the subject. Pierce was arraigned Town of New Bremen court and released pending later return court date.
