State Police in Watertown arrest man for Sexual Abuse of 8-year old

(Watertown, NY - June 05, 2010) The State Police in Watertown arrested Matthew L. Creighton 02-04-55 of 35033 Eddy Road, Lot 76, Theresa, on 1 count of Sexual Abuse 1st a Class D Felony and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child a Class A Misdemeanor.

Creighton is accused of subjecting a 8 year old female to sexual contact. The incident occurred in July 2009 at the Creighton residence.

Creighton was arraigned before Town of Theresa Justice Roger Duvall and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building with $15,000 cash bail set pending Grand Jury action.

MVCC announces local candidates for graduation

State Police arrest Fort Drum soldier for using stolen credit card

(Watertown, NY – May 07, 2010) The State Police in Watertown arrested Chanse M. Miles, 19, of 35033 Eddy Rd in Theresa on one count of third-degree Grand Larceny, a Class D Felony and 10 counts of first-degree Forgery, a Class D Felony.

Police said Miles used a stolen credit card to purchase approx. $4,895 in merchandise from the SuperWalmart in the town of LeRay, AAFES Fort Drum, Advance Auto Parts in Watertown and the Exxon Mobil in Watertown.

The card was lost by the Polly Hallett (address withheld per victim’s request). The purchases occurred from April 14 and 19 of this year.

Miles was arraigned before town of Watertown Justice Andrew Capone and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building with bail set at $5,000, pending Grand Jury action.

Police charge Theresa man with DWI

(Alexandria, NY – April 30, 2010) On 04/30/10 at 11:24 p.m., stemming from a vehicle stop on County Route 15 in the Town of Alexandria, Mark W. Tillman, 51, of 25403 Schneider Road, Theresa was arrested by the State Police Alexandria Bay for DWI.

Tillman was found to have a BAC of .14%. He was also issued traffic tickets for failing to keep right, unregistered and uninspected Motor Vehicle.

Tillman is to appear in the Town of Alexandria Court on 05/11/10 at 8:00 p.m. to answer charges.

Marihuana arrest in the Town of Theresa

The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested DARLENE F. BLIGHTON, age 49, Honeoye Falls, NY for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. On 04/06/10, at approximately 3:40 PM, Ms. Blighton was stopped on State Route 37 in the Town of Theresa for operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration. An odor of marihuana was noted, and during the subsequent investigation 2.5 grams of marihuana and two pipes with marihuana residue were located in the vehicle.

Ms. Blighton was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Theresa court on 04/13/10 and released.

NYSP were assisted at the scene by US Border Patrol.

One-Vehicle/ATV Serious Injury Accident

(Theresa, NY - April 4, 2010) On 04/04/10, at about 1:18PM, the New York State Police in Watertown responded to a Serious Personal Injury Collision. The collision occurred on Silverstreet Road approximately 1/10th of a mile east of Eddy Rd, in the Town of Theresa.

Katherine E. Pratt, 62, of Theresa was operating her 2001 Dodge Intrepid eastbound on Silverstreet Road. A 50 cc, 4-wheel ATV, being operated by a 9 year old male, also of Theresa exited a driveway, traveling in a northerly direction into the eastbound lane of travel.

Mrs. Pratt’s vehicle struck the ATV, ejecting the 9 year old who was not wearing a helmet. The 9 year old was transported to University Hospital by Guilfoyle ambulance with several injuries. The child is currently in Pediatric ICU and listed in critical condition.

Mrs. Pratt was uninjured in this collision. NYSP Oneida Collision Reconstruction Unit, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Theresa Fire and Ambulance, and Guilfoyle Ambulance also assisted at the scene. This investigation is ongoing.

Division Aviation Locates Missing Hunter in Coyote Flats

(Theresa, NY – December 08, 2009) On Dec. 8 at 5:40 p.m., Jefferson County 911 received a cell phone call from Floyd J. Frye reporting that he was lost in the Coyote Flats State Forest area in Theresa after muzzle loader hunting earlier in the day.

Responding were the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police, along with state forest rangers and the Theresa Volunteer Fire Department.

Audible attempts to locate Frye resulted in negative results. Contact with Frye’s cell phone was lost and division aviation was contacted for assistance.

Almost immediately upon arrival and approximately one mile from his vehicle, ground personnel were directed by division aviation to Frye’s location and escorted him out.

Philadelphia Ambulance was on the scene and treated Frye for hypothermia due to exposure. He was transported to Samaritan Medical Center for further examination.

UPM arrests in the Town of Theresa

The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested Thomas J. Titch, age 21, of 140 Prospect Street, Gouverneur, NY and Cheryl A. Parker, age 27, of 17260 County Route 3, Clayton, NY for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, on 12/01/09, 3:30 PM.

These subjects had stopped at McGinny’s Store on ST-37, in the Town of Theresa, when a Trooper walking by their vehicle noted an overpowering odor of marihuana coming from their vehicle. Upon questioning, they admitted having a bag of marihuana (containing approximately 6 grams) and a pipe with marihuana residue.

Both subjects were issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Theresa court on 12/08/09, and released.
