The New York State Police in Alexandria Bay arrested Matthew S. Owens, age 22, of Beaver Dams, NY for DWAI-Drugs and Following too Closely on Friday, October 23, 2009.
Mr. Owens was observed following another vehicle too closely on SR-37 in the Town of Theresa at approximately 5:07 PM on 10/23/09. Upon being stopped, it was revealed that he had smoked marihuana 40 minutes prior and also consumed a marihuana blunt as he was being stopped, in an attempt to try to prevent the Trooper from finding it.
Mr. Owens was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired – drugs and Following too Closely.
He was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Theresa Court on 11/10/09.
