Larcenies from State Police Vehicles Solved thumbnail

(Watertown, NY - January 27, 2010) New York State Police, Watertown, NY, responded to the Ramada Inn, Arsenal Street, Watertown at approximately 6:00 AM pursuant to vehicles in the parking lot being damaged overnight, and items taken from within those vehicles. The subsequent investigation revealed that five vehicles were entered. Two of these vehicles were marked New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Vehicles from Troop “C”, Sidney. They were at the Ramada Inn while participating in a local commercial vehicle enforcement detail.

With the assistance of the Watertown Police Department, Alexander N. Donchevich, age 20, of 126 Union Street, Watertown was identified as a suspect. Subsequent response to his residence resulted in the recovery of all property associated with the larcenies of all involved vehicles. State Police property taken, and recovered, included computers, radar units, AED Defibrillator Units, and police clothing.

Other property stolen and recovered included tools, and personal items from the owners of the other vehicles entered.

Donchevich was arraigned in the Town of Watertown Court on the following charges: Grand Larceny 3rd (2 counts)-Felony, Grand Larceny 4th (2 counts)-Felony, Criminal Mischief 3rd (2 counts)-Felony, Petit Larceny (3 counts)-Misdemeanor, Criminal Mischief 4th-Misdemeanor, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 3rd-Misdemeanor.

Donchevich was arraigned in the Town of Watertown Court, Town Justice McClusky, and committed to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building on $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond.
