(Watertown, NY - July 02, 2010)On July 2 New York State Police, Watertown, were assigned to conduct checks at local retail establishments to ensure compliance with existing laws that prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. These checks were completed using an operative, who was less than 21, that when asked, would provide identification that clearly identified this operative as a person that could not purchase alcoholic beverages.
As a result of these checks, the following businesses were checked, and were found to be in compliance, failing to sell alcoholic beverages to the less than 21 year old operative:

The purpose of these details is to reduce and heighten the public’s awareness of the dangers associated with young adults obtaining alcohol, and the related dangers associated with highway safety.
The New York State Police were assisted with this investigation by the Fort Drum Federal Police Department, and Military Police, as well as support from the Jefferson County District Attorney.
